There is no right or wrong time to send a sympathy basket however there are some general rules of thumb.

1. Send a sympathy basket directly to the home of the family who is mourning.  Baskets are typically not sent to the funeral home.
2. Send a sympathy basket before a funeral service in the same manner you would a floral arrangement or plant
3. Sending a sympathy basket after a funeral service is also acceptable. Many people send food baskets to the families after a funeral if they were unable to attend or if they did not hear about the passing until after the funeral has taken place.
